The Gift of God
Through the Womb
by David L. Martin
We don't have to examine the Bible for very long before we realize that Yahuwah, and the majority of people in the Bible, have a very different attitude toward children than we do today. Consider these quotes:
Yahuwah said to Noah:
"Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.”
Genesis 9:1 NIV (emphasis mine)
“As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it."
Genesis 9:7 NIV (emphasis mine)
Yahuwah said to Abraham:
“I will make you very fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you.”
Genesis 17:6 NIV (emphasis mine)
Yahuwah said concerning Ishmael:
“I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers.”
Genesis 17:20 NIV (emphasis mine)
Issac said to Jacob:
“May God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and increase your numbers until you become a community of peoples.”
Genesis 28:3 NIV (emphasis mine)
God said to Jacob:
"I am God Almighty ; be fruitful and increase in number. A nation and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will come from your body.”
Genesis 25:11 NIV (emphasis mine)
Yahuwah said to all of Israel, concerning the blessing He would bestow if they followed Him:
“I will look on you with favor and make you fruitful and increase your numbers, and I will keep my covenant with you.”
Leviticus 26:9 NIV (emphasis mine)
“Sons are a heritage from the LORD (Yahuwah,) children a reward from Him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.”
Psalms 127:3-5 NIV (emphasis mine)
A Psalmist said:
“Blessed are all who fear the LORD (Yahuwah,) who walk in his ways... Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots around your table.”
Psalms 128:1-3 NIV (emphasis mine)
Rebekah's family said to her:
“Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them.”
Genesis 24:60 KJV (emphasis mine)
These few verses, along with many other verses not mentioned, reveal that Yahuwah and the majority of people viewed a large family as a blessing. The more kids, the better. What is very unfortunate, is that many couples today view children as a curse and not a blessing. Instead of looking at children as wealth (like the godly people of the Bible) we look at them as a financial burden and a obstacle to our fun. May Yahuwah forgive us for not having our priorities straight.
“For the love of money is the root of all evil”
1 Timothy 6:10 KJV
Will we cut off our seed (via birth control, abortion, etc) because of money? Will we prevent our own children, and their children, and their children's children, from coming to be because of money? Is our personal comfort more important than the lives that Yahuwah wants to bring into the world? Yahuwah forbid.
Children are a gift of Yahuwah through the womb, and He should be given the choice of opening and closing the womb.
Yahuwah opens and closes the womb, and we must submit ourselves to His will. Surely the Author of life, knows the best time to create it, and if the Author of life begins a life in our body, what right do we have to end it? But we should not only just stop trying to prevent children from coming forth, we should earnestly pray to have them. Remember, the Scriptures describe children as blessings and wealth, a gift of Yahuwah through the womb.
have children again, for the LORD (Yahuwah) had closed up every womb in Abimelech's household because of Abraham's wife Sarah.”
Genesis 20:17-18 NIV (emphasis mine)
“Then God remembered Rachel; he listened to her and opened her womb.”
Genesis 30:22 NIV (emphasis mine)
“When the LORD (Yahuwah) saw that Leah was not loved, He opened her womb”
Genesis 29:31 NIV (emphasis mine)
“Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech, his wife and his slave girls so they could
